Kamarajar: Was Chief Minister of

Kamarajar was Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for all but a decade from 1954 to 1963. Kamaraj , the ‘King Maker’. As the president of the Indian National Congress, he steered the party during testing times post the death of Jawaharlal Nehru. Kamaraj was a vocal activist against the British Raj, who was inspired to join the freedom struggle by the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. His participation in the Salt Satyagraha resulted in the first of several imprisonments. He also participated in the Nagpur flag Satyagraha, and led the Sword Satyagraha and the Neil Statue Satyagraha. He was the chief minister of Tamil Nadu during 1954-1963 and a Member of Parliament during 1952-1954 and 1969-1975. He was known for his simplicity and integrity. He was involved in the Indian independence movement. Kumaraswami Kamaraj (15 July 1903 – 2 October 1975), popularly known as Kamarajar was an Indian independence activist and politician who served as the Chief Minister of Madras State (Tamil Nadu) from 13 April 1954 to 2 October 1963.
