Baijnath is a town in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, India. [2] It is about 50 kilometers from district headquarters, Dharamshala. A Hindu temple of Lord Shiva (Baijnath) is situated there giving the town its name. Acquiring its name from the ancient temple housed here, the town of Baijnath Himachal Pradesh is situated at an elevation of 1130 m on the bank of the Gomati River. The sacred town lies in the district of Bageshwar in the Kumaon Region of Himachal Pradesh and is counted amongst the must-visit places in the district. Baijnath Temple, built in 1204 AD by two local merchants named Ahuka and Manyuka, is an architectural and spiritual jewel of Kangra.
