Injectafer is an iron replacement product for adult patients with iron deficiency anemia. It is given intravenously in two doses, either as a push or an infusion, and has warnings for hypersensitivity, hypophosphatemia, and hypertension. Ferric carboxymaltose (Ferinject) FCM is a colloidal solution stabilised by a carbohydrate complex that allows the controlled delivery of iron to storage sites.5–7 It can be used as an injection , infusion or in haemodialysis, as listed in Table 1.1,2 It is available in 2 mL × 100 mg (for dilution in 0.9% saline), 10 mL × 500 mg (prediluted, PBS subsidised and preferred) and 20 mL × 1000 mg vials (prediluted).1 It is stored at room temperature; refrigeration, freezing and storage above ...
