Hanle lies about 270km to the south-east of Leh, and is about 7-8 hours by road. While Leh is at 3,500m or 11,480ft, Hanle is higher at 4,500m or 14,700ft, all the more reason for travellers to spend at least two full days in Leh and acclimatise before moving on.
