Kambana: Directed by Samuel Pastor. Mother and twin sons are socially rejected because of being twins. In the Mananjary region of Madagascar, there is a popular belief that twins are carriers of misfortunes. Kamdev (also spelled Kamadeva) is a Hindu god of sexual desire who is responsible for reproduction and hence the continuation of life. He is also popularly known as Madana and Kama. Because of the erotic nature of his powers, he is not commonly worshipped. You will hardly find any temples dedicated to him. He is similar to Cupid in Western culture. Kamban, being a born poet and a creative artiste, adopted a mid-way – an amicable solution for both sects — those who considered Ramayana as legend and those who worshipped Rama.
