A cross made between the two different homozygous parents, on the basis of single character or trait is called Monohybrid cross . It is first successfully conducted by G.J.Mendel. Assertion : Cross of F 1 individual with a recessive homozygous parent is test cross . Reason: No recessive individual are obtained in the monohybrid test cross . The F 2 progeny of a monohybrid cross showed phenotypic and genotypic ratios as 1 : 2 : 1 unlike that of Mendel's monohybrid F 2 ratio. With the help of a suitable example, work out a cross and explain how it is possible. A cross is made between hybrid and homozygous recessive individual is called Test cross . It is used to determine, whether it is homozygous or heterozygous and also type of gametes produced during fertilization. In the next generation 50% heterozygous plants and 50% homozygous recessive plants are formed. The phenotypic ratio is 1:1. So, the correct option is ‘1:1’.
