Promethazine, sold under the brand name Phenergan among others, is a first-generation antihistamine, sedative, and antiemetic used to treat allergies, insomnia, and nausea. Promethazine is used in the treatment of nausea, vomiting, vertigo, allergic conditions, appetite stimulant, morning sickness and motion sickness. It is also used for short-term treatment of insomnia (difficulty sleeping) in adults and as a sedative in children aged 5 years and above.
