SCERT stands for State Council of Educational Research and Training, an autonomous body of the government of India that deals with school education and teacher education. It conducts research, curriculum development, teacher training, resource development, assessment and evaluation, and publishes textbooks for different states. SCERT is concerned with the academic aspects of school education including formulation of curriculum, preparation of textbooks, teachers’ handbooks and teacher training. It advises the Government on policy matters relating to school education The academic activities and programmes of SCERT are carried out by the various departments / units. SCERT plans and co-ordinates all academic projects and programmes in the state. SCERT was established after the recommendation made by the National Education Policy in 1986 for the decentralization of functions to provide quality education training research. It is also an affiliating body for elementary teacher education and early childhood care and education courses. SCERT Delhi is an autonomous organization that provides academic support for school education in Delhi. It conducts teacher education, research, in-service training, curriculum development and e-learning programmes.
