Sukhbir Badal attacked: The incident happened when Sukhbir Badal was serving as a guard at the Golden Temple entrance as part of a religious punishment. The shooter has been identified as Narain Chaura, a former Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist. Amritsar: Sukhbir Singh Badal was on Saturday unanimously re-elected as the president of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), marking his return to the top post of the party after stepping down four months ago in the wake of religious censure from the Akal Takht. Sukhbir Singh Badal, one of the most powerful politicians of Punjab and a former deputy chief minister, served as a guard at the Golden temple in Amritsar, a plaque of atonement hanging around his neck. Tuesday was the first day of punishment for Badal and other Akali leaders ordered by the Akal Takht, the highest temporal body of the Sikhs, for their actions against the community. While addressing a public rally at Jhabal, SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal congratulated party workers for what he described as defeating tyranny in keeping with Panthic traditions.
